The pneumococcal vaccine helps protect against infections caused by pneumococcal bacteria, which can lead to serious illnesses such as pneumonia, meningitis and sepsis. It’s recommended for people who are more likely to become seriously unwell, including older adults and some people with long-term health conditions.
Who is this for?
Our private pneumococcal vaccination is available for patients aged over 2 years who would like protection against pneumococcal infection. If you’re unsure whether it’s suitable for you, we’ll review your medical history during the consultation.
What to expect
You’ll have a brief consultation to confirm suitability and answer any questions, followed by vaccination (if appropriate). The appointment is typically around 20 minutes, and for most people it’s a single dose.
Can I have the vaccine on the NHS?
Some people can get a pneumococcal vaccination through the NHS if you think you may be eligible, we can advise and signpost you.
