Do you get repeat or regular prescriptions? Read on to learn how a Government initiative has just made your life that little bit easier …
The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is being rolled out by the Government this month (November 2019) to make patients' lives easier. It will help to ensure that you get your medicines quickly and save you visits to the GP for repeat prescriptions - all while reducing costs for the NHS.
It is a new service that allows your GP to send your prescription electronically from their surgery to your nominated pharmacy, without the need for a paper copy and without the need for you to pick up the prescription and take it to the pharmacy yourself.
Time-saving - You will not need to visit your GP surgery to pick up your prescription, it will be sent on your behalf. Also, your pharmacist may well have prepared your prescription before you’ve even got to the pharmacy to collect it!
Flexibility - You can nominate a pharmacy near where you live, work or shop: the choice is yours.
Security - EPS is reliable, confidential and secure.
The short answer is yes!
It’s worth noting that…
In the future, the EPS will become the default option for the prescribing, dispensing and reimbursement of prescriptions in primary care in England. SO you may as well get nominating your pharmacy now!
You can find further details about this new service here: https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/pharmacies/electronic-prescription-service/ or simply pop into one of our pharmacies and we will be more than happy to talk you through what you need to do and answer any concerns you may have.
